THE VINTAGE WINDOWS
When I walked past a curbside free pile with craftsman-style single pane glass windows from a neighborhood house renovation, I thought:
“I could paint on that!”
Painting on glass is surprising, difficult to control, and offers stunning coloration.
There is the added challenge of painting in mirror image and reverse layering. The first brush strokes laid against the glass become the finishing detail work of the completed piece.
The artwork is sealed in resin for protection and added effect.
These pieces have an extra dimension, interacting with light, throwing shadows, and building depth in the display against a wall.
