writing life

Having been at various times of my life a competitive accordionist, an occupational therapist, a visual artist, a chef, a backpacker, and a subsistence farmer, a life of creative exploration defines me. Cassie Van Domelen writes creative nonfiction. Her work has been published in Deep Wild Journal, the Eastern Iowa Review, and Waxing and Waning. She has been nominated for a Pushcart Prize. She studied creative writing at the Rainier Writing Workshop, The Attic Institute, and Fishtrap.

Cassie grew up eking produce out of a backyard urban farm and backpacking in the mountains. She examined human frailty and strength in her work as an occupational therapist. She lives with her husband on a sheep farm in rural Oregon.
